A teenage girl has secured €850,000.00 in damages and compensation in settlement of her High Court medical negligence injury claim over a shoulder injury allegedly suffered at birth. The settlement was made without an admission of liability.
The girl from Cork, who sued through her father, brought the medical negligence personal injury claim against a Consultant Obstetrician with a place of business at Cork Clinic, Western Road, Cork and also the City General Hospital, Infirmary Road, Cork. It was alleged that due to the negligence and breach of duty by the Consultant Obstetrician, she suffered permanent right sided Erb’s Palsy. The girl took the action against both the Consultant Obstetrician and the Hospital and both Defendants denied the claims and the Consultant Obstetrician also denied claims that he caused or contributed to the injury.
